“Kill! Is that you?” I hear Reign call out from the office as I close the door of the mansion behind me, looking up to see Sienna is decorating the door on top of a ladder.

“Hey, Kill,” she sings, then fixes her gaze back at the door.

“Hey, Sienna.”

“He’s in the office.”

Already expecting that answer, I make my way through the foyer to find my brother.

“What’s doing, tool?”

He’s sitting behind Franklin’s desk, frantically tapping on his laptop. His green eyes swing to mine when I walk through the door before they drop back to the screen.

“I found some stuff.”

I cock my head at him.

“You look like you’ve sneaked into the principal’s office to change your grade.” When Franklin sits in here, he’s suited up most of the time, looking like he belongs behind the big wooden desk, surrounded by the thousands of books that cover the walls. Watching Reign in here with his Winter Soldier t-shirt, lammy coat, and messy hair makes him look completely out of place. Add his everlasting boyish grin and he looks like the college boy from Hell, ready to kick the party alive.

“What do you mean?” He drops his gaze to his chest, plucking his coat. “Are you mocking my lammy?”

“No, I’m mocking everything. You look like a hooligan. Is Sienna letting you wear that to Thanksgiving?”

“Sienna doesn’t get to tell me what to wear.” He fixes his eyes on me before they fall back to the screen. “And no.”

I chuckle. “You are so whipped.”

“Whatever. Do you want to hear what I found or not?”

“Sure. How bad is it?”

“It’s bad. I just don’t know how bad just yet.”

My stomach turns, not liking that answer one bit, and I lean forward, resting my elbows on my knees as I crack my knuckles.

“Apparently, her father, Jameson Lee, was a journalist at the Boston Daily News. He lived in Boston his entire life and graduated from Northeastern, where he met his wife, Anna. They had two daughters, Sofia and Alexandra.”

“Yeah, I know all this shit, Reign,” I huff, annoyed. “Stick to the important shit. Why did Sullivan want them dead?”

“Okay, grumpy.” He pulls a face, and I pull one of my own when he stays quiet.

“Well?”

He rubs a hand over his face, filling his lungs with air.

“I don’t know.”

“What do you mean, you don’t know?” Reign always knows. It’s what he’s good at. He finds the answer we can’t find by hacking into shit. I don’t like him telling me I don’t know.

“I mean, there is nothing out of the ordinary. Dad was a journalist. Mom was a dance teacher. They bought a four-bedroom apartment after they got married. They paid their bills on time. Their kids did well in school.”

“There must be something.”

“Yeah, I agree,” Reign says with a pained expression. “And there always is, but I clearly need to dig deeper than going through the obvious channels. Did Lexie mention anything about her sister?”

“What do you mean?”

“I don’t know,” he growls. “Maybe she got in trouble at Northeastern? Maybe she was dating Sullivan’s son and pissed him off.
